Tips to Find the Best Dog Walker in Beaver, PA

Ask friends or neighbors

One of the ways you can find the best dog walker in Beaver, PA is to ask those closest to you who they recommend.  Friends and neighbors will be very honest with you when it comes to their experiences. These are opinions and feedback you can count on as your friends and neighbors would not want to steer you wrong.

Get referrals from your veterinarian

Most veterinarians have professionals to refer.  Your veterinarian is a good source in asking about other professional pet care providers.  They want the best for your pets.   Sometimes your veterinarian will have staff who may also offer dog walking. Veterinarians are a great source for recommendations.

Search online for a local professional dog walker

If by chance your friends or veterinarian are not able to refer a dog walker, another option is to search online.  Be careful to seek out only professional dog walkers.  When you do a search for dog walker in Beaver, PA there are going to many dog walkers offering services.  Some are professionals and some are hobby dog walkers.

To find the best dog walker, however, you should always hire a professional. A professional dog walker is the best option because of the experience and knowledge they have.  Although your dog may be super easy to walk, there are often times unexpected events that occur while out walking that can be dangerous or threatening to your dog.  A professional dog walker will know how to handle these situations.

Also, when searching online you will most certainly see listed first, advertisements for Rover and Wag.  These are apps to make hiring a dog walker easy and convenient.  There are some professional pet sitters listed on these sites but be aware many are not.  Always do your homework.

Before hiring, check out reviews and ratings to find the best dog walker

Reviews and ratings posted online are easy to find.  We recommend reviewing these before asking a dog walker to provide references.  Chances are the dog walker is only going to provide a positive, glowing reference so this may not be a true reflection of the dog walker.

A reputable, reliable dog walker will have several positive reviews.  The most popular ways to find dog walker reviews and ratings are on Google, Facebook, Angie’s List, and Yelp.  The best dog walker in Beaver, Pa does not necessarily have to have all 5 stars.  If there are 1-2 ratings less than 5 stars but all others are 5 stars, read each one and the dog walker’s response.  This will give you a good idea of the situation.  Sadly, there are times when a fake review appears, or reviews are filtered so make sure you look at them all.

If you cannot find reviews and ratings on any of the above mentioned sites, do not hire the dog walker.

Research the dog walker

This is not too difficult but very important in finding the best dog walker.  When researching the dog walker there are certain criteria that is a must.

Qualities for hiring the best dog walke

Look for these qualities for hiring the best dog walker

  • They are a professional dog walker.
  • The dog walker is insured.
  • How long have they been in business?  This is important.  If they have only been in business for a short time, they may not be the best choice.  Although they may be very good at what they are doing, they are not as well established as someone who has been in business for years.  Years of being in this business results in a more experienced and knowledgeable dog walker.
  • They provide a contract and explain the services that will be provided.  You know exactly what to expect and what you are paying for.
  • Do they have an excellent rating and positive reviews?

Because you are concerned with your dog being home too long during the day, you want to make it better for your dog by hiring a dog walker.  Hiring a dog walker will ease your guilt of leaving your dog for such long periods because when you hire the best dog walker in Beaver, PA, you are assured your dog and home are in the best care.

How Much Notice Is Needed To Book Pet Sitting Service?

When we receive new inquiries for pet care, we are often asked how much notice is needed to book pet sitting service. We surely understand that life can’t always be perfectly planned and unexpected events happen.

A death, hospital stay, working late, or a last minute chance for a weekend getaway may leave you scrambling for pet care. Is it possible for a pet sitter to accommodate last minute requests?

Improve Your Chances

To improve your chances for last minute pet care, it is suggested that you establish a relationship with a pet sitter before the unexpected happens. A pet sitting service is much more likely to be able to fit your request in if they already have all your information, a signed contract, house keys, and have previously met you and your pets.

No Guarantee

This however does not guarantee your pet sitter will be available.   If your pet sitter operates as a solo operation with no employees, independent contractors, or incidental help, they may not be able to fit you in so easily.

A pet sitting business who operates with staff may have more availability but they too at times have to turn away last minute requests. Professional pet sitters only accept a certain number of reservations per day in order to provide the best care for your pets. When the schedule is filled, any other service requests must be denied.

Plan In Advance When Possible

Most pet sitting clients reserve care for their pets well in advance, especially during summer and holidays.  This is a very busy time for pet sitters and the schedule fills up quickly.

If you do have an emergency or an opportunity to get out of town for a few days, you should still call your pet sitter.  They may be able to rearrange their schedule. Be prepared though that some times your pet sitter will have to tell you no, unfortunately they just can’t squeeze in one more pet visit. Offering to pay double will not help.  When schedules are full they are full and a professional pet sitter will not shorten those pet visits that were booked in advance to fit in more.

Have you ever been in a situation where you needed last minute pet care?  What did you do?

Best in Pet Services provides professional pet sitting and dog walking in Beaver County, PA. Our pet sitters and dog walkers are available in Beaver, New Brighton, Beaver Falls, Monaca, Rochester, and surrounding areas.

Why did we start the Beaver County dog walk meetup?

Beaver county Dog Walk Meetup
As professional pet sitters, we see many dogs who do not have a chance to get out for daily walks.  Pet owners have extremely busy schedules.  Working a full day, after school activities, housework and yard work leave little time to walk the dog.

Walking the dog has so many benefits to both the pet owner and the dog.  The group was started to encourage pet owners to get into a regular habit of walking their dog. (3 Reasons To Walk Your Dog Daily)

Why is walking your dog so important?

Dogs experience new surroundings. Getting out to sniff around and take in new scenery stimulates your dog mentally and physically.  Stimulating your dogs senses helps prevent boredom which often causes unwanted, destructive behavior.

Socialized pets.  Dog walking helps to socialize your dog especially in a dog walk meet up group.  Your dog will meet other people and pets while out walking.  Not only does your dog get to enjoy socializing with others, you will too.

Exercise.  Daily exercise for you and your pet help keep the unwanted pounds off. Staying active improves the health for you and your pet. (Dog Walking, does It Improve Your Dog’s Health?) It also helps release energy for highly active dogs.  A tired dog is a happy dog.

Stronger bond with your dog.  Spending time together strengthens the bond you have.  Your dog will want to be with you even more when you do fun things together.

Fun. Getting out in the fresh air with friends is fun and it’s free. Anytime we can spend time with our pets and good friends enriches our lives.
